Central Nova
Jesiah MacDonald
Jesiah is passionate about social justice and is ready to fight for a Canada that takes care of people - not big corporations and CEOs.
A long-time advocate for the LGBTQ community, Jesiah has been volunteering in various ways for the last 15 years, helping to educate hundreds of nursing students on the barriers often faced by his community. He also served on the Board of Directors, and eventually as Vice Chair of the Pictou County Centre for Sexual Health for 5 years, organizing many Pride events in Pictou County. Jesiah works closely with Heal NS, formerly the AIDS Coalition, each year on a leadership program for LGBTQ identified youth.
Working alongside the NSNDP government in the 2010s, Jesiah is proud to have been involved in amending the NS Human Rights Act to include gender identity and expression.
Jesiah is a lifelong New Glasgow resident, and truly understands the challenges facing his community. For too long, rich corporations have been calling the shots and putting their profits before people. Jesiah is ready to do his part to flip the script to ensure everyone has a roof over their head and groceries they can afford.
Jesiah spent years running a bakery and knows how to work hard, and will work hard for his constituents to give them a strong voice in Ottawa. A tinkerer, a nerd, and a shift worker, Jesiah lives in a self-built tiny house with two cats and is engaged to a wonderful woman, Sam. He is proud to be the NDP candidate for the people of Central Nova and would be honoured to be their representative in Parliament.
